PHS - September 06, 2006 Meeting

Hi!

This year has seen excellent presentations by very learned and entertaining speakers. September will be no exception!

The Panama Historical Society cordially invites you to its September 2006 meeting, to be held on Wednesday, September 06, 2006 at 7:30 PM - "Niko's Cafe" (the old Balboa Bowling Alley" site in the port area of Balboa...

Our guest speaker will be Military Historian Russ Stayanoff, with the presentation, "Fox Conner, Panama and the Mentoring of Dwight David Eisenhower."

This presentation has been given at various Phi Alpha Theta regional conferences, it was selected as best graduate student paper at The Southern Historical Association Annual Conference in 2004 and was given in May 2006 at the Eisenhower Presidential Library in a forum sponsored by the Society for Military History at Kansas State University. He will be giving it again October 28, at the Ohio Valley Historical Conference at East Tennessee State University.

Of himself, Mr. Stayanoff tell us that he is a graduate of and has received degrees in Social Science and History from Vincennes University, VIncennes, IN and LaGrange College, LaGrange Georgia.

He will graduate with an M.A. in Military History from Norwich University, the nations oldest private military college, and is in the first class of military historians to be trained there. He has been published in Parameters, SMH Journal, and Citations Journal... academic journals which he claims you'd never buy.

Mr. Stayanoff is currently at work on a book about Dwight Eisenhower and his military days in Panama... He is a veteran of the US Army having served 8 years in the First and Second battalions of the 75th Ranger Regiment.

Este año ha visto excelentes presentaciones dadas por muy preparados y entretenidos invitados. ¡Septiembre no será la excepción!

La Panama Historical Society le extiende una cordial invitación a su reunión de Septiembre 2006, que tendrá lugar el Miércoles 06 de Septiembre de 2006, a las 7:30 p.m. en el Niko's Cafe de Balboa.

Nuestro invitado será el Historiador Militar Russ Stayanoff, con la presentación, "Fox Conner, Panama and the Mentoring of Dwight David Eisenhower." (Fox Conner, Panamá y la Educación de Dwight David Eisenhower".

Este presentación ha sido dada en varias conferencias regionales de Phi Alpha Theta, fue seleccionada como la mejor tesis de graduando en la Conferencia de la Southern Historical Association en el 2004 y fue dada en Mayo del 2006 en la Biblioteca Presidencial Eisenhower Presidential Library en un foro patrocinado por la Society for Military History at Kansas State University. Nuevamente la presentará el 28 de Octubre en la Ohio Valley Historical Conference en East Tennessee State University.

De sí mismo, el Sr. Stayanoff nos cuenta que es graduado y ha recibido título en Ciencias Sociales e Historia de la Universidad de Vincennes en Indiana y LaGrange College, en Georgia.

Se graduará con una maestría en Historia Militar de la Universidad de Norwich, que es la Universidad Militar Privada más antigua de EEUU, en la primera clase de historiadores militares entrenados allí. El Sr. Stayanoff actualmente trabaja en un libro sobre Dwight Eisenhower y sus días militares en Panamá... Es un veterano del Ejercito de EEUU, habiendo servido ocho años en el Primero y Segundo Batallón del 75 Regimiento de Rangers.
